Set up on macOS
Install WireGuard from the Mac App Store, import your configuration file and activate the tunnel.
You'll need a tunnel in your Ghostunnel account. If you don't have one yet, create a tunnel first.
1. Install WireGuard
Install WireGuard from the Mac App Store. It's also linked from Downloads.
2. Download your configuration
- Create a tunnel. Its configuration appears right away.
- Select Download .conf. The file is named after the tunnel (or its location), for example
netherlands.conf.
The configuration is shown once, right after you create the tunnel — we don't keep its private key. Already left that page? Open the tunnel from Tunnels and select Get a new configuration.
3. Import and connect
- Open WireGuard from the menu bar and choose Import tunnel(s) from file.
- Choose the
.conffile. If macOS asks to add VPN configurations, allow it. - Select Activate.
To disconnect, select Deactivate, or switch the tunnel off from the WireGuard menu bar icon.
Tips
- After importing, you can delete the downloaded file — WireGuard keeps its own copy. Don't share it: it contains your tunnel's private key.
- If you create a new tunnel later, import its new file and remove the old tunnel from WireGuard.
Not connecting? See I can't connect.
