Choosing a location

Pick the country your traffic should come from. Some locations are for Premium only.

When you create a tunnel, you pick a location — the country your traffic leaves the internet from. Websites will see that country.

Which location should I pick?

  • For speed: the location closest to you. The shorter the distance, the faster the connection.
  • To appear in a particular country: that country.

Within a location, we connect you to the least busy server automatically.

What the labels mean

  • Low load, Moderate load, Busy — you can use it; the label says how busy its servers are. Less busy usually means faster.
  • … · Premium — a Premium location you can use because you're on Premium.
  • Premium — this location needs the Premium plan. It can't be selected on the free plan.
  • Full right now — every server there is at capacity. Try again later or pick another.
  • Temporarily unavailable — the location has a problem; see the service status. Try another.
  • Coming soon — we don't have servers there yet.

See Free and Premium at a glance for what Premium includes.

Changing location

  1. Open the tunnel from Tunnels and select Switch location next to its status.
  2. Pick the new location and select Move tunnel.
  3. Import the new configuration into the WireGuard app (download it or scan the QR code again).

The tunnel keeps its name. We set up the new location first and only then release the old one, so this works on the free plan too — and if the new location can't take you, your tunnel stays where it was. The old configuration stops working once the move is done.
